We start the series with a writer whose work is creative and engaging and who represents the Northwest in all the best ways. Sharma Shields is the author of a short story collection, Favorite Monster, and two novels, The Sasquatch Hunter’s Almanac and The Cassandra.

The focus of the Writers-in-Conversation Series will be interviews with Pacific Northwest writers before an audience of lovers of art, literature, and the NW. We start the series with a writer whose work is creative and engaging and who represents the Northwest in all the best ways. Sharma Shields is the author of a short story collection, Favorite Monster, and two novels, The Sasquatch Hunter’s Almanac and The Cassandra.

The interviewer and MC for the series is Michael N. McGregor a Seattle-based author whose book Pure Act: The Uncommon Life of Robert Lax was a finalist for a Washington State Book Award. After living his early life in Seattle, he spent 17 years as a professor of creative writing at Portland State University, where he helped found the M.F.A. in Creative Writing program. 

The series’ kick-off conversation will take place at the museum on Thursday, August 8, starting at 6 p.m. and lasting until about 7:30.
