Ultimately a story of hope, individuals leave the performance feeling empowered to take meaningful action.  Birds are a part of our daiy life experience, and an inspiring connection to the natural world.  ButBirds climate change is having a significant and alarming imipact on many bird species, and this should be a wake-up call for all of us.

"For the Birds" Concert will be at the United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers St, Edmonds, WA on Sunday afternoon, September 22nd 2024, from 4:00 to 5:30pm.  It is hosted by Interfaith Climate Action. Tickets are $10 and $20 or donation. They may be purchased here. Children under 12 are free and childcare will be provided. Sponsors are encouraged donate $100 or more to have their names listed on the program and on the ticket site.

The performance will feature a jazz quintet performing original music of Seattle pianist and composer Nelda Swiggett.  Other members of the quintet are:  Clif Swiggett (trombone ande percussion); Kate Olson (saxophone and flute); Chris Symer (bass,); Adam Kessler (drums); and the poetry of Jill McGrath.

Nelda Swiggett has headlined at many NW top jazz venues, including the Seattle Jazz Fellowship, the Earshot Jazz Festival, Bumbershoot, and the Bellevue Jazz Festival.  She is an award-winning composer and OA2 recording artist.  Her five almum releases have received rave reviews and extensive airplay around the globe.  Nelda debuted her first climate-themed work,  "The Alaska Suite: a story of beauty, loss and hope" on Earth Day 2017 and it has been performed 36 yimes to over 2500 Wa residents to critical acclaim.  Building on the success of the Alaska Suite, Nelda is excited to debut her new climate piece, "FOR the BIRDS" at Edmonds United Methodist Church in Edmonds on Sept 22nd at 4:00 p.m.
