Edmonds is full of surprises. The best way to see them all is on foot. So, tie your shoes, grab your smartphone, maybe a pair of binoculars, and get to it!

There are many paths in and out of this walkable town, 10 square miles total, and so much to see.

In a nature mood? Head down to the Port of Edmonds, check out the ferries, the beaches (Brackett’s Landing, Olympic Beach, Marina Beach) and tide pools, Underwater Park, and a slew of other parks to choose from. There, you may even see Edmonds' Bubble Man, Gary Larson, who thrills kids young and old with massive technicolor bubbles.

Southwest County Olympic View Park, ... is a hiker’s dream — 120 acres of wide, open, undisturbed spaces, two nature trails, lush greenery, ravines, and a winding creek set in a grand forest straight out of a C.S. Lewis fantasy.

If you have children, bring them to City Park for the slides, swings, water fountains, and imagination gone wild. Musicians perform in the bandstand up next to the baseball field most summers. Marina Beach Park, all of 4.5 acres, is a favorite for beach goers, dog walkers (Off Leash Area Edmonds, southend), picnickers, and sometimes, scuba divers. Bird watchers and photographers trek over to 22.5-acre Edmonds Marsh for the best wild life views. Lots of creative walkers enjoy scenery of a suburban sort: picture-perfect houses, bordered by pretty little flowers and hanging strawberries all in a row, yard art — garden gnomes, raccoon sculptures, weathered, Bedouin row boats, butterflies, and elaborate birdhouses, architectural lines, angles, and curves of historic buildings, murals telling logging, homestead, and indigenous peoples stories, public art scattered throughout…like lost treasure waiting to be found.
